The CBS 8 news team stopped by the Project Clean Water booth this past weekend at the San Diego Humane Society’s Walk for Animals event to learn about our newly launched Keep San Diego Doody Free dog waste campaign.

The Keep San Diego Doody Free campaign aims to educate residents about how dog waste affects our waterways, and the steps residents can take to clean up after their pups.

“One of the biggest sources of bacteria is from dog waste that is left out when people are out walking their dogs or are out hiking,” said Chelsea McGimpsey, Program Coordinator for the Watershed Protection Program, and spokesperson for Project Clean Water. “If they don’t pick it up, eventually, that is going to break down and get washed into our waterways and into storm drains where it’s carried into our waterways untreated.”
