The Los Peñasquitos Watershed Management Area (WMA) Responsible Agencies are performing an update of the Water Quality Improvement Plan for the Los Peñasquitos Watershed (WQIP). The WQIP update will focus on the evaluation of the WMA WQIP Priority Water Quality Conditions, evaluating water quality for waterbodies in the EPA’s 2016 303(d) Impaired Water Bodies List, and establishing new interim numeric sediment goals for the WMA.
A virtual consultation panel meeting is scheduled for Tuesday August 24th, from 10:00 am-12:15 pm and will be open for the public to attend. At this meeting, the jurisdictions will review the content of the planned update with the panel members and there will be an opportunity for the public to comment. This consultation panel is being convened to aid in the WQIP update and is comprised of representatives from the environmental and development communities, and San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board staff. The consultation panel members are familiar with the watershed and will provide essential stakeholder engagement which aids the decision-making process of the WQIP update. After the panel meeting the WMA Responsible Agencies will incorporate any feedback received and the updated WQIP will be circulated for public review and commenting.
