The San Dieguito Watershed Management Area (WMA) Responsible Agencies are performing an update of the San Dieguito WMA Water Quality Improvement Plan (WQIP) and are releasing the document for a 30-day public review. The WQIP update has focused on the upper portions of the watershed, specifically the potential impairment of the municipal and domestic supply beneficial use at Lake Hodges Reservoir due to the presence of excess nutrients for wet and dry weather. Based on this new Highest Priority Water Quality Concern (HPWQC) designation, the Responsible Agencies developed new goals and strategies to improve overall water quality conditions.
The updated San Dieguito WQIP will be available for public review from September 4, 2020 to October 5, 2020 and can be downloaded here. Please include all of your comments in the excel tracking document and submit them to Andrew Funk, at [email protected] by 5pm on October 5, 2020. If you would like to provide your comments as track changes in the word documents, let Andrew know.
In addition to the 30-day public review of the WQIP, a virtual consultation panel meeting will be held on September 23 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm and is open to the public to attend. Prior to the meeting, an invitation will be sent out with links to attend the meeting as well as the meeting agenda and relevant materials. The agenda and materials will also be posted to the Project Clean Water website prior to the meeting.
Please contact the San Dieguito WMA coordinator, Andrew Funk (619-755-7875 or [email protected]), with any questions.
