There are many amazing people in San Diego County who are making a positive difference in their communities and working hard to help reduce stormwater pollution. In recognition of their incredible work, Project Clean Water is celebrating and highlighting these special individuals. Meet this week’s Everyday Stormwater Superhero!
Nadine is a stormwater inspector with the City of San Diego Stormwater Department.
A long-time lover of water sports and spending time in San Diego’s reservoirs, lakes, waterways, and beaches, Nadine knows how important it is to keep our environment and water clean and safe for the community. That is why she decided to get her BA in chemical engineering, where she learned a lot about hydrodynamics and water quality and treatment technology.
Out of college, Nadine got a job with the California Regional Water Quality Control board and got her professional license in chemical reengineering.
As a Stormwater Inspector, Nadine visits industrial and commercial businesses throughout the city and determine compliance with the environmental protection laws that keep our waterways clean. She notes that as a stormwater inspector, she is also an educator for the community about the storm sewer system.
Nadine cares deeply about the work that she does and encourages anyone who loves the environment and want to preserve our waterways to pursue an education and career in environmental or chemical engineering and work in stormwater.
Project Clean Water proudly celebrates the special individuals like Nadine, whose positive practices make our world a better place. By incorporating personal responsibility in their communities, these Everyday Stormwater Superheroes help to ensure cleaner water and healthier communities.
