Project Clean Water and I Love A Clean San Diego, presented by BluPeak Credit Union, are excited to announce the “Design for Clean Water: Stormwater Pollution Challenge.” This design competition invites teams to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to mitigate stormwater pollution and improve water quality in San Diego.
The Challenge
Stormwater pollution poses a significant threat to San Diego’s waterways, harming wildlife and human health. Designers have a unique opportunity to tackle this complex issue by applying their creative problem-solving skills and innovative thinking. The competition aims to:
- Develop innovative solutions to reduce stormwater pollution
- Enhance public awareness and engagement in water quality issues
- Foster a binational collaborative environment for creative problem-solving
Competition Details
- Open to design teams consisting of students, professionals, and community members
- Teams encouraged to include at least one member with a background in environmental science, engineering, or a related field
- Proposals due by August 12, 2024
- $2,000 microgrants, presented by BluPeak Credit Union, to up to five teams to develop and prototype their ideas
- Projects will be featured during San Diego Design Week (September 18-25) and at I Love A Clean San Diego’s Coastal Cleanup Day events (September 21) across the county
