Watershed Management Plan

The Cities of San Diego, Del Mar and Poway, and the County of San Diego (City of San Diego is lead) are currently preparing a watershed management plan (WMP) in coordination with the Los Peñasquitos Lagoon Foundation (LPLF), Citizen's Advisory Committee (CAC) and general public for the Los Peñasquitos watershed. Funding for the project has been provided, in part, through a Proposition 13 (Water Bond) grant from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB).

The WMP will identify and prioritize measures to preserve and/or improve the health of the watershed based on an assessment of existing watershed resources and issues, and include a strategy to ensure that it becomes and remains a "living document." A nine-member CAC (stakeholder workgroup) has been established to guide development of the WMP through a community-driven process. All are encouraged to attend CAC/public meetings (see below), as they provide an opportunity for YOU to give valuable input on the planning process and to share your watershed vision/experiences with everyone.
